Every day 15 million newspapers are printed in the UK. That’s approximately 429 tonnes of paper daily and almost 4 million trees each year. This piece, made from waste newspapers, takes the visual language of a famous newspaper masthead and plays on it to highlight some of these ethical and ecological issues. Throughout the making of this piece, we calculated our own carbon footprint and used an online company to offset this through the planting of new trees. After the exhibit, all the newspapers will be donated to the university, to be reused in the creative departments.
